英語漬けの一日「English Challenge Day」

Hello, HIS！

　2学年の生徒たちは岩岳にある白馬インターナショナルスクール（HIS）にて「English Challenge Day」を体験してきました！

　まさに「英語漬け」を狙った特別な行事。 最初は「聞き取れるかな？」「話せるかな？」など不安そうな表情を浮かべていた生徒たち。しかし、HISの生徒たちが温かく迎え入れ、アクティビティをリードしてくれたことで、次第に活気に包まれていきました。

　言葉の壁にぶつかっても、HISの仲間が分かりやすく説明してくれるなどの交流を通じ、次第に自分から英語でコミュニケーションを図る姿も見られるようになりました。 レクリエーションでは、学校の垣根を越えてすっかり意気投合！

　普段の生活ではなかなか味わえない、英語を「使う」ことの楽しさを実感できた、とても貴重な一日となりました。

Hello, HIS! A Full Immersion Experience: English Challenge Day

Our second-year students visited Hakuba International School (HIS) in Iwatake for a special school event called “English Challenge Day.”

It was a unique program designed for full English immersion. At first, the students looked a bit anxious, wondering, “Will I be able to understand?” or “Can I really speak English?” However, the HIS students welcomed them warmly and took the lead in the activities, quickly filling the venue with energy and excitement.

Even when they hit a language barrier, the students gradually began to communicate in English with more confidence, thanks to the HIS students who kindly explained things along the way. During the recreation time, students from both schools mingled and truly hit it off, moving beyond the boundaries of their respective schools.

It was a fruitful day where our students experienced the joy of actually “using” English—an opportunity they rarely get in our daily lives at Hakuba Junior High School.
